The first week of school has come and gone and, boy, did it go fast! We have spent the last three days getting to know each other as well as our classroom routines through "First Day Stations". Students moved through each of six different stations where they completed an interest survey, took a multiple intelligences quiz, interviewed a classmate, made a time capsule, went on a classroom scavenger hunt, and made some artwork to represent themselves. It was so great to accomplish my Week One goals without having to stand at the front of the room talking. I got to spend time with my students instead!
Next week we will be setting up our reading notebooks, choosing books for independent reading, and learning some new vocabulary. Hooray! For this reason, it is important that all students have their reading supplies by Tuesday, September 6. If your child is in need of supplies, please have them speak to me so we can arrange to get them the tools they need. It’s been a fabulous week and I am definitely looking forward to working with your child this year!
